Louis XIV introduced chocolate into the customs of the Palace of Versailles’ court. At the time, manufacturing and selling chocolate was a privilege that only the king could grant.

It is with this idea of an exceptional product that the shop Au Roi Soleil first opened its doors in 1953, in the heart of Versailles. The ambition of founders Mr. & Mrs. Burckel was to introduce the pure origin of cocoa, creations worthy of the greatest wines, flavors that bring back childhood memories, where the subtlety of cocoa bean, fruit and spice mixtures spark an emotion similar to happiness.
